Latvia: EPPO files charges in case involving project for female entrepreneurs
On 20 September 2023, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Riga (Latvia) filed criminal charges in a case involving a project aimed at creating a centre for female entrepreneurs, funded by the EU’s European Neighbourhood Instrument.

Romania: Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu probed over fraud involving Erasmus funds

On 22 August 2023, the Osnabrück Regional Court sentenced three individuals of import smuggling and organised tax evasion. The investigation, code named Cash, was led by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Hamburg (Germany) and carried out by the Hanover Customs Investigation Office since 2021.

On 1 September 2023, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) filed an indictment in the Riga City Court (Latvia) against two individuals and one company, for fraud involving a project for the reconstruction of drainage systems, co-funded by the EU.
Romania: Former president of Dinamo București football club indicted for fraud
This week, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Bucharest referred a criminal case to the Bucharest Tribunal, where a former president of Dinamo București football club was indicted for fraud. This follows house searches in Romania and France in May this year, in an investigation into a €30 million fraud involving EU and national funds.
