Three convictions in Croatia for illegal favouritism and attempt of abuse of function

As previously reported on 25 May 2022, the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Zagreb filed an indictment against 10 Croatian citizens, including the mayors of Nova Gradiška and Velika Gorica, for active and passive corruption and abuse of function. Today, the County Court in Zagreb issued the verdict against three of the accused, who were all found guilty of illegal favouritism and attempt of abuse of function.

Two arrests in Croatia in a case of unlawful favouritism

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Zagreb has launched an investigation against two Croatian nationals for unlawful favouritism and incitement to unlawful favouritism. Both suspects were arrested yesterday, at the EPPO’s request.

House arrest and seizure of €15 000 in Italy – public official at regional Agriculture Department suspected of abuse of his office and aggravated fraud

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) Turin is leading an investigation into a public official of the forestry department from the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley. The Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Aosta will put the suspect today under house arrest and around €15 000 will be seized.

Today in Sicily (Italy), the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Agri-food of Messina (Reparto Carabinieri per la Tutela Agroalimentare di Messina) seized over €160 000 in movable assets and real estate, in an investigation into agricultural funding fraud carried out by the Palermo office of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).
